I am hoping to trace my family tree on my mother's side Believe it or not there are 5 generations all female still living!!
My father is from Tenerife so already a no go.
My mother is the daughter of William Sutton (deceased) and Annie (aged 92) I do have a bit of information on my grandmother's parents. They were married in Leek. Her father's name was Ernest Wood and he married Annie Beswick in 1914. They had the following children: Wilfred (1917), Annie (1919) - my grandmother, Doris M (1922), Phyllis A (1924), Sarah E (1926) and Samuel (1931) Unfortunately both Sarah and Samuel died when babies possibly during child birth. Thats all I know. I'm sure I know a bit about my Grandfather's parents but just can't think and I think he had quite a lot of siblings.

poss a few more kids as 1917 is late for first kid when married 1914 unless he was in the forces

How lucky to have your grandmother with you so long!

Sometimes we have to buy a certificate or two in order to get going on the census records etc.
Your grandmother may have her parents' marriage certificate, but if not you could buy it. That should tell you the name of the bride's and groom's fathers, and their occupations. Also the ages of the bride and groom. That could be enough to get things started.

1914 Ernest Wood to Annie Beswick at Quarnford, St Paul, marriage registered at Newcastle Under Lyme 40C/1/96 (the code number is if you order the cerificate).

If you can find where the records for St pauls are kept (Stafford at a guess, Linell will know) then you could get a photo copy of the marriage entry from there, which would be cheaper than the certificate.

My mum will be speaking to my grandmother on Saturday so will try to gather as much info as she can
In the meantime can anyone tell me anything about my grandfather's side.My mum can't remember her grandmother's maiden name but we do know some of my grandfather's siblings:
Sutton
Amy, Nancy, Emily, George, Cissie There are more but can't think at the moment.

When and where was William Sutton born?
What was his occupation?

I'm pretty sure he was 3 years older than my grandmother so would be roughly 1916 and he was a farmer Not sure where though Probably Leek area
