Don't think anyone owns it - if it's the one I'm thinking of, it's used by the people who's houses back onto it.

Well in that case then, someone should cultivate it and they can then claim it

I'm suprised they let them carry on building the houses. We're building a block of flats in Handsworth by St Mary's Church and they stopped the work for nearly a year, while they carried out a "dig". They gave us a report though and it was really interesting.

I thourght these days things had to be checked out properly - I remember being in York city centre as a kid and getting dragged round some dig or other, thourght it was dead boring!
I know better now, can be fascinating, especially if they've got time to talk to you!

Some brilliant "digs" in York. It was when they were working on Marks and Spencer that they discovered what is now the Jorvic Centre. I love York - taking my grandson for a weekend there next month - he's 11 and really into ancient history.

"The Gulley!!!
It ran at the side of The Barrel!!
Haven't they built houses on that little field?
I was a paper boy at Barclays and i delivered papers to those houses 1960/61.
The lads from Brook Road and the private houses in Grafton road had a football pitch on that little field end of the 50's.
There was a spring up that gulley.Just before the footpath into Ferndale Road-Kestrel Road.Just below my mate Tony's garden.Water was always trickling down.In fact on the 1902 OD map a spring is mentioned.
I think everyone on the Cakemore Estate walked up that gulley!!
