I am now barking up the DAW(E)S branch of my family tree. There are actually two branches that fuse together as my Grandfather WILLIAM E. GROUT and his (first) wife JESSIE DAWES were cousins. Jessie (christened 15 JUL 1869 at St Mary's Kirkdale, Lancashire) was born to EDWARD and CAROLINE (n. Warren) DAWS. EDWARD DAWS, a shoemaker, was born in Westminster, London. His birth year in the census record varies wildly, but I expect it to be ~1830. EDWARD had a sister SARAH, born about 1839, who eventually married JOHN GROUT and was the mother of WILLIAM E. GROUT, thus the tangled tree. EDWARD and SARAH DAWS's parents are listed as JOHN and JANE DAWS, with JOHN being born around 1801 and JANE DAWS around 1811. JOHN and JANE's family lived in St. Giles parish in Middlesex in 1841. EDWARD and CAROLINE's family lived in Lambeth in 1861 and in Kirkdale, Lancashire in 1871.

Can anyone fill me in with any other information, especially about JOHN and JANE. Thanks!

John Schelleng

Thank you Math Girl, but I already had the 1841 results. I also know that the family moved to Kirkdale, Lancashire, which I now find is a section of Liverpool. I am currently looking for something further back but so far have not found records of John and Jane's marriage or either of their births.
