Hello folks, my name is Sylvia, I was born in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire .Left England in 1965.Lived in New Zealand for 4 years, then hopped on a plane over to Perth, Western Australia to give it a whirl and have been here ever since.
I have been researching my family history for about 8 years now , sometimes its easy and sometimes I have hit snags, but its great when you manage to unravel one of those snags.
Anyway looking forward to posting with you all.
Cheers Sylvia

Hello Sylvia - Welcome to the Forum, I hope you enjoy our company.
I've moved this topic to Introductions
Are you anywhere near the fires? Heard from my neice yesterday - she lives in Perth. They're rescuing horses at the moment and taking them to their farm. Last count she had nine, two of them she has no idea who they belong to. She has four of her own, so they're fast running out of food.

Just heard from Mark (a distant relative) he's originally from Oldbury but has lived in Perth for approx 40 years.
He said "a fire started on the Toodyay road Gidgegannup, on saturday at 9:15pm, it burned north on the ridge between us and Perth, a spectacular frightening sight, hot embers going hundreds of feet into the air.
It started just east of red hill and burnt north west into Hern Hill, Millendon, Baskerville and Brigadoon.
At the same time as the fire near us, another started in Roleystone south east of Perth and that fire has destroyed 64 houses, both fires are still out of control at this time"

Thanks for the welcome folks.
We aren't living in the hills where the bush fires are we are safe from them thank goodness I can see them burning from here and it looks pretty bad.
I feel for the people, but I also feel for the poor animals caught up in the bush fires. !Sad!
I will take a look around the site see who is researching who and hope someone is researching the same ancestors as I am.
