Hi folks
Any ideas on how I can find more info on the following soldier
FMP listing has
H Parkes
Number 3373
2 Battalion Worcestershire Regiment
The Kings's South Africa (KSA) Medal Clasps: South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902
Would like to confirm if he was my g/grandfather or not.
Regards
Cid

Hi Cid,
The only source I could think of checking was the Army service records 1760-1913 for this chap but he's not listed
There is such little information listed I doubt very much you'd find any further details on him.
The only other idea is to contact the Regimental museum for any help:

I got all of my Gr Granddads war records from Kew, but I did have to wade for ages through boxes of Jones's. It was brilliant, even down to describing the scar on his left cheek. He wasn't very tall and when I mentioned to my mom, she said - yes we did call him little granddad. It was worth every penny I spent on the day in Kew.

Thanks for your replies.
I know he was in South Africa in 1901 as his wife had the foresight to note this on the census form.
I also know that he spent time in Ceylonic?? as my grandmother called it. I assume she meant Ceylon, but I don't know what dates he was there.
He served in the Boer War and in WW1. I have a WW1 photograph of him. Is there anyway to tell from the uniform which regiment he was in?
Would love to spend some time in Kew, unfortunately work gets in the way

The Cap badge is often a good guide to his Regiment and is usually easier to see than some of the insignia on the uniform.
Post the picture and we will have a go.
P.S. It is usually a good idea to give us some more details. Like his full name and date and place of birth.

Cheers Mark, I'll dig the photo out and see if I can upload it. Will put more details on at the same time.
