Hello from the Black Country

Hi I'm Geoff, I've been researching our family history for about two years. I found this forum through BCC and thought it was about time I came out of the closet and asked for some help. I've got an essentials membership with Ancestry.com and buy a few credits from Find My Past when I need something from the 1911 Census. I've just uploaded my family tree to Tribal Pages and it's also on Ancestry as a public member.
From the work I've done so far it appears that our family mostly hail from the Black Country. Nothing illustrious I'm afraid just a long line of miners and nailors, mind you I do have a "pikelet maker". 8) My main research interests are the surnames: Marsh, Greenaway, Harcourt and Devis.
I must admit this genealogy malarkey has become a bit of an obsession with me of late, I sure the wife thinks I've got a cyber floosie  . Being of a certain age my computer skills range from adequate to appalling so be gentle with me.

Geoff

Hi
Welcome to the forum - I think most of us have other halves that think we've got a screw loose as far as genealogy goes, my husband does any way!

Hi Jo,

I had a quick look at your tree on Tribal Pages and was surprised to see that we have a surname in common. My Mothers maiden name was Chater and I've often wondered if there is any connection with the Chaters from the NE. You never know.
