Are there any sites out there that you can use for deciphering old handwriting?
I have got back to my second great grandfather and for the life of me on the census for that year i cannot for the life of me work out what his occupation was and its really bugging me :?
I took a photo from the screen,so my next question is ........how can i add a link to hear or upload a picture??
Answers in internet for idiot mode please
Cheers
steve

Hi Steve

You can't upload the whole image due to copyright but you can upload a small section
have you got a snipping tool?
or crop part of image
then you save it to your docs
then in the post you are replying to on here you will see below your typing a box,
one of tabs says upload attachment
you click on that
then browse for your image from your docs
and click submit

If it is a census return just give us the details and we can look ourselves.

Hi Steve,
A good tip I was given many years ago on a family history course, was to try writing the bits you can't decipher yourself, exactly as it's written. Often you can work it out then. Also, look at bits you can decipher, and you might be able to work out individual letters in the bits you can't! Hope this makes sense, otherwise, post it on here and we'll all have a look!

It may be just as easy as Mark said to let us know who the person is and what year.

This may help
