Hi all,

Would like to say a big thank you to the people who informed me that you can, via post obtain copies of wedding certs from parish registers, for a fraction of the cost of one from NA.

I have today received 21 copies of marriage certs, for the same price as 4! And I get to see original handwriting etc..Why do we get so excited over a bit of paper?

I ordered these from Dudley Archives, so my next question is does any one if any other 'local' archives provide the same service? Esp Birmingham? I have looked on web sites but not seen it, tho I couldnt on the Dudley one?

Hi Kim - yes, Dudley Archives are brilliant. Other Archives do provide this service, but the only problem is you have to know the church, and sometimes the certificate number - so far Birmingham marriages aren't on WMBMD, but I know they only charge 10p for copies. If you know the church, I'm sure they will do it for you.

For other archives, look on UK BMD, to see if they have been added for that county and then contact the relevant archives.

They really good at Dudley
I think Sandwell do it too not sure on the charges there.

Thanks NL. I wish the did it with B and D's as well, I really need to get a day off work and sorrt kids and get myself up there, tho a day may not be long enough lol :lol:

The local REgistry offices at Sandwell and Dudley are excellent too
and very helpful
