Hi guys..

Have just discovered a rellie, Matthew Jones on 1911 census and his occupation is.. 'Labour Urban District Council'..

Is there anyway of finding out anymore info, surely there must be some record of this, maybe even a photo or 2, I wouldnt know where to start tho lol

Its Matthew Jones...theres a matt jones on that list tho its 1959,

He was born 1841 in Kingswinford, and was living in Brockmoor, Kingswinford in 1911 age 69

I don't want to rain on your parade, but could he have been a labourer for the Council?

'Labour Urban District Council'.. is a bit ambiguous and since the Labour Party was only just getting going it seems a bit odd to me it would have been listed as an occupation in that way.
What was he doing in 1901?

1901. Crescett Lane, Brockmoor, Kingswinford.
Mathew Jones 59. Coal miner. Bromley.
Caroline Jones 59.
Richard Jones 25. Son.
Rueben Bunce 25. Son in law.
Emma Bunce 23. Dau.
Annie Underhill 15. Grand dau.

Others born Brierley Hill.

I would take that as 'Labourer Urban District Council'. at his age.

Oh right so he was a Labourer who worked for the Council.
