You get better and better;
the entries nudge a tiny memory that the 'Black Sheep' was known as Arthur, I have no knowledge of Marion though, presumably the child that died. And they were bakers although the term journeyman suggests that, at that time (1901), they didn't own their own business. The situation seems to have changed a bit in 1911. Also Fanny Louise and Fanny Louisa seem to be interchangeable, is this bad handwriting, bad hearing or vanity? I do know that the house in Compton Road, Northcroft (one of those 'pick your features from the catalogue' type William Morris/Art deco copies that were so popular with builders in the early years of the 20th Century), was built for Fanny & Horace to live in and paid for by her inheritance (taken early, although there was bitterness later when the estate was shared on their parents decease and she got another slice, but Minnie got High House

), as far as I know 'Arthur' got nowt.
So who was Ms. HERRIN?

I can remember going to Christ Church for choral concerts. But a quick search in the 1911 census isn't throwing up a Mary E Herrin.

A quick google suggests that Herrin may be romany, related to Hearn, or possibly Dutch or a variant of Herring.

Old Thomas and Louisa were pretty prolific then, odd that their grandchildren should have so few children. Oh, and I don't think Samuel was a dau
