Hi,

Sorry about the grim title but I have a terrible feeling I may be directly related to this chap and want to prove or I hope dis-prove any connection.

My direct ancestor was Abel Hill born abt 1750 unknown place who married Sarah Hughes 9 Nov 1772, Sedgley, Staffordshire and they lived around the Tipton and Bilston area and one of their childrenwas also named Abel born 1778,Tipton. The Abel mentioned above was a mining engineer who was hung at Stafford in July,1820 being convicted of murdering a Mary Martin and her new born baby Thomas in Capponfield, Bilston. The little information I could find it seems he was already married but had relations with Mary resulting in the birth of Thomas.

I'm wondering how I could find out any further information on this Abel maybe his DOB or wifes name to check if indeed he was my relative :(

Regards
Adrian

Hi,

The age of this Abel seems to indicate he isn't a close relative because there are two Abels born into my direct family Abel 1778 & Abel 1809 which doesn't seem to fit. I did find a Baptisim for a Abel abt 1801 Sedgley, Staffordshire Unknown father, mother Mary Hill which may fit better.

Thanks for your input because finding his age helps alot.

Regards
Adrian
