1911...He would probably have been a 'volunteer' fireman in Rowley Regis.
He would have put his paid profession on the census:

William Henry Street married Ada Buckley in 1912 at St Michaels in Tividale.

William Henry is the son of John Henry Street

sparkstopper how did the fire station system work? seems a long way to travel from tividale to old hill. any ideas?

Hi Beardie: Not certain but would assume that in 1919
Alf. would probably have served at least 10 years. The
Fire Brigades Union I believe started between 1905/07.
He could have been a 'volunteer' at the time of the 1911
census at a more local station(and still have been a member)
and after 1911..served at Rowley Regis.

How certain are you that the Alfred STREET is the one mentioned
in the previous posts? as firemen at that stage were usually recruited
from the Services..ex seamen in the majority.

there is a ten year bar on the medal!!

im not certain at all it is the person mentioned i imagine he had to live local to be entitled to the medal!

the medal has 5975 impressed round the edge.
