Hi
I am stuck on my reserach into my Great Grandmother Gertrude Lilian Hughes especially on her father's side.

I have Gertie's birth certificate:
DOB: 9/3/1904
Place Born: 83 Montague Road, Smethwick
Father: William Henry Hughes
Occupation: Blacksmith (Journeyman)
Mother: Clara Hughes formally Connor
Informant: C. Hughes - Mother
83 Montague Road, Smethwick

I have found on the 1911 census a Clara Hughes with Gertie as 7 but the father has died and Clara is
a widow.

Clara has had 10 children 8 survived and 2 died,
I have managed to account for 9 children but I am missing one???
Annie Eliza Hughes (Died 2 years old)
Clara Hughes
James Hughes
Nellie Hughes
Emily Hughes
William Hughes
Harold Hughes
Gertrude Lilian Hughes
Florence Hughes

If anyone could help me find the missing child I'd be most grateful.

Also I have looked into Clara's family in which I believe her father is Thomas and her mother is Hannah.
But I have had no luck with the father William Henry Hughes.

I cannot seem to find a marriage for the parents and I believe from previous censuses that he may be 21 years older than Clara making his birth around 1850 but then again I might be completly wrong

Any help is very much appreicated.
Rach

I've found the same on the 1911 Census, my Gt Grandparents had two children that I knew nothing about. I think they could possibly be babies who died at birth, so there would be no records of them, unless they were registered. Linell.

There isn't one for Clara Connor any where, so I wondered if it could have been a second marriage.
They may not have married because of the age difference.
