Pudsey Municipal Cemetery - plot f181, any headstone??

hi, my greatx3 grandfather and grandmother are buried in plot F181 in pudsey municpial cemetery.

I found this info from a great site called calverley.info. However the transcript for the burials at the site also show that 2 other individuals are buried in the same plot - an infant (with surname schofield so I assume it is one of their grandchildren) and a old woman (rebecca houston died age 75 in 1890). I have no idea who this old lady is - I can't even find her in a census - or what her relation is to my greatx3 grandparents. I'm hoping that there is a gravestone on the plot which might explain the relationship. Grateful if anyone lives nearby if they could check it out for me!

I've had a look at this site - you're right, it is excellent. I'm as much in the dark as you, perhaps one of the Yorkshire sites may know who Rebecca is. The only Rebecca Houston I can see in 1881 is in Scotland. There is a death recorded in Bradford, September Qtr 1890 for Rebecca Houston, born around 1815. The death certificate may give you some information.

1841 Dunkeswick Moor End, Harewood, Dunkeswick
HOWSON, James M 30 1811 Yorkshire Ag Lab

HOWSON, Joseph M 9 1832 Yorkshire

If this is the family they certainly seem to have had some changes in fortune -- from Ag lab to Bailiff to Ag lab -- + several children that appear to have disappeared (died? ) between census

Thanks for the suggestions. It's a difficult one - as I have no idea of what relationship she has with the schofields, and freebmd confirms her name and age as houston, I can't pinpoint her from the suggestions you have all given - I suspect though she is the servant as fulneck is in the right area. I'm hoping the plot has a tombstone which might clarify the relationship and help out.

Another explanation might be that she was a pauper, with no family and that if the grave hadn't been maintained or paid for for some years by the family - that perhaps she was just laid to rest in that particular plot - just an idea.

I believe that un-related people did get buried in the same plots, as the old Churchyards did run out of space. Infants would often be buried with either a relative or a neighbour, anyone who was being buried at the same time. HTH from Linell.

Hi Clovis I went to the Family History Fair and visted each stall and was told that Pudsey FHS had not come this year, I did try two different Bradford FHS but they did not have any information on that Cemetery so sorry I could not help you.
