From look up by Maggie Smith for Edward Darby I traced his father Joseph Darby :-

Note Error on Census
I think this Joseph Darby is the Stepson of Thomas Proctor noted on :-

As 1) Only one born in area of right age
2) mother is Elizabeth Darbey who married a Thomas Procter in 1843 St. Thomas Dudley
This is interesting as Thomas Proctor's son Benjamin Proctor married Sarah Ellen Darby who murdered Charlotte Whale and was sister of Jumping Joe Darby.
Can someone look at this and see if I am right
