Christmas is around us!

Went out today for a nice coffee chat and to a local garden centre
it was full of Christmas stuff!
Some beautiful trees and bits and pieces and that christmas
spicy smell of cinnamon and mulled wine.
I am cutting back on stuff this year
sending 3 cards out
and given the tree away!
having my last christmas where I cook it
and looking to be invited to others houses next year and
for the future
You don't think I have done this BCC tree for nothing do you!
it is to find out who I relate to and to get my foot in the door at Crimbo!

Yep,
They've started here too!!!
(Although I've already started thinking about presents, the aged p's are visiting in a month or so, so I've spotted an oportunity to save on P&P)

Not quite sure what I think of the idea of Christmas in the sun
I was in spain in November once, we went on a trip to Gibralter - it was really weird. Christmas decorations, 25 degrees and British policemen, M&S, GPO post boxes etc . It felt very surreal.
I like the run up to Christmas here, it's all about atmosphere - I try and do my shopping early so I can sit back and relax with a glass of Gløgg (Danish mulled wine) and a plate of æbleskiver (a sort of doughnut thing fried in a special pan, eaten warm with jam and sugar) ....yum! It's like lying under a blanket on the sofa - not because I',m cold but because I like the cosiness of it.
And this year we'll be celebrating our first wedding anniversary - they can leave out the snow this year though - bit of a snow overdose last year

Spending the time with rellies who I hardly ever see and three kids who I have seen three times in the last ten years and that's been in Cyprus for Christenings and Weddings. I've started my Christmas Shopping and will be taking in the atmosphere at Webbs in November with my mom and sisters. My kids are organising a Christmas Dinner before I go so that'll be lovely. The kids in Oz have their summer holidays over Christmas so it's the best time to see them. Can't wait....

Welcome over, Antie Em. We'll try to turn on some serious sunshine for you. Whereabouts in Oz are you heading?

Hey, we could all go over to Oz together and have a reunion with Auntie Em, Diane, MarkC and Linnel (when she sees her new grandaughter Isla)

Hello and many thanks for the warm welcome.
I'm going to Perth - not sure exactly where - I'll find out and let you know. My niece always does a traditional Christmas Dinner - inside the house with candles and tinsel and all the electric fans on. Then on Boxing Day the whole community get together on the beach and have a big party. Well, I say the whole community - they have a farm in the middle of nowhere - but seem to have loads of friends. Our 12 year old Lily and her horse Karri have just won 3rd place in the Wa interschool Nationals 2010 Showjumping competition in Sydney. Very "horsey" family - so I suppose I'll be doing some of that as well.

Sounds a bit like McClouds Daughters
(May be a bit sad, but what else do you do when you're off work with a slipped disc for six weeks and can't concentrate on reading - they were shoeing re-runs (one episode a day) so I watched the whole thing from beginning to end!)
