i'm looking for some help finding my ancestors on a ship that went to USA around 1880 The USA census has them in Pawtucket , Providence , Rhode Island:

Henry Higginson Born 1849 blackburn
Ann Higginson Born 1849 blackburn
James Higginson Born 1868 Blackburn
Elizabeth Higginson born 1876 Blackburn
and Robert aged 3 months blackburn

my guess us that they sailed from liverpool , the clue is Roberts age if someone knows when the 1880 USA census took place we could probably find out roughly when they sailed and maybe which ship

I think all the American census's was done on June the first.

That census shows Robert born England, possible birth Jan-Mar 1880 Blackburn. I cant see him on passenger lists on Ancestry yet

I've always believed he was born in blackburn , i do not have a birth certificate , but all the census i have seen since they returned (abt 1884) say blackburn , if thats true we are looking at maybe only a 3 month window when they sailed

At least you have Roberts birth date.

Apart from that 1880 Census entry, can you find any reference to them at all in the USA?

I can't.

On later census they will give the year of arrival.

There are other christening on Family Search beta for Henry and Ann Higginson, which fits with them returning about 1884.

Looks like trip to USA has been long forgotten as both the children born there state they were born in Blackburn!

Thomas and Elizabeth no children.
Robert and Mary 3 children 2 alive!

Can anbody find any info on the ship they sailed on ? when and from where?

I havn't been able to as yet, but still looking.
