HI I'm new to this. thought I could share some info or insight into the life of patience Round. I believe she was born in 1833. Some of the later census' state 1842 but this does not really fit and it is known that in some census' you could round your age up or down to the nearest ten years. I agree that she was married to both william pearson and thomas round . i know she had a son prior to her marriage to william pearson who appears on the 1861 census as emanuel pearson and on later census' as Emanuel Sidaway. Has anyone considered the possibility that Patience was married or living with a man called Sidaway and could have been born under a different name. I have noted in the west midlands BMD archives that an Emanuel Sidaway died in Dec 1854 about 4 months before Patience had her son. In the same month there are the deaths of two children Mary ann deborah born 1852 and James born 1851. Could these be Patiences children? I know she later had another daughter called Mary Ann but apparently it was fairly common to name later children after ones who had died.
Her son Emanuel later married Alma Smith in 1877. In 1881 they have two children James and Sarah.They later have a daughter patience.
My connection to patience comes through her daughter Mary Ann who married Joseph Rock and had a daughter Emily Alice who married Edwin tromans. they had seven kids the second youngest of whom was my grandfather William who was fifteen ay the time of patiences 100th birthday and appears in the photograph with her. Despite this he could remember very little about the day. The family were obviously very fond of patience's youngest daughter Alice who married into the Tibbetts family. Not only did my great grandmother have Alice as a middle name but so did my great aunt and several of my mothers cousins.
Anyway enough rambling. if anyone else has any info on a possible earlier marriage for Patience please let me know.
