Am I fed up of rain
Now I like the rain, especially summer rain with thunderstorms - but there are limits. It feels very autumnal at the moment.

It's been absolutely pouring down for days now. They had to shut the airport and the Lego factory in Billund as they had about 7cm's of rain in one hour. We weren't too bad here on the west coast, but there has still been a lot of people with water dammage in their houses. Denamark is a relatively flat land, so mostly it's the sewers that can't cope with huge amounts of water.
We're going to put special valves in our celler, not that we really expect to have a problem (if we get flooded then there really is a lot of water!!!), but we see it as an extra insurance.

I hope not - we're having my husbands family over on sunday and hope to be able to sit outside. We're 12 in all, with three kids who run around like crazy (and parents who don't really pay attention to what their kids are up to).
We have tried planning a trip to a little island just off the coast for the last couple of years, but it's always rained, so this year we decided to drop that idea, but it doesn't seem to have helped the weather much!

I saw the floods on the news Snoopysue. Made me query the wisdom of having stuff standing on the floor in our basement I might rearrange things a bit though I know our drains are pretty good.
This has been the best summer since I moved here. Days in a row when it is safe leave home with no coat and no jumper! My first few summers here it was a rare thing to get a day over 13°C but here we are mid-August and it was 17°C at five o'clock. I love it

Now we know why it's called Iceland - no wonder Greenland got a more positive spin!!!
How long have you lived in Iceland?

We talked about it in work, that it probably wasn't too clever to keep important documents or other important things in the celler if it's prone to flooding.

Just watched the news, can't really complain about the rain, when I see what it's like in Pakistan

I've been here 27 years next month. My husband said "Just come and see how it goes..." I don't think he ever intended leaving again!

Most companies chose to keep their archives in the basement. The National Library here has the manuscript department in the basement! Actually the worst damage here is when a central heating pipe leaks. The hot water is mostly flowing under pressure (like the cold in other countries) so it just sprays on and on until switched off. Steam and 70°C water is not good!

WE have had the best month of rain for ten years. If this is global warming then keep it up....

It does rain occasionally up in the north, but rather worryingly it's still 25 degrees in my study (that's with the window open, and no heating on since December) at 0135.

Am I right in thinking that no one has a boiler for heating, as you just use the hot water from nature?
In denmark we have district heating, which basically means that the hot water created in the power stations is pumped round in insulated pipes - ours comes from a power station about 12 miles away! When we were in Ironbridge, my husband couldn't understand why the power station had cooling towers - he didn't take my word for it that it was to get rid of all the hot water.
