As most of you are aware, the Titanic anchor was made at Noah Hingley, Netherton. On Sunday, 15th August 2010 a replica of the anchor will be in a procession from Dudley to Netherton. Here are a couple of links explaining more:-

Have just seen the message about the Titanic anchor chain and the link, my grandad and great uncles supplied horses to be used for pulling the chain, although we have seen a few photographs never seen a close up photograph of some of the horses and men, my dad is searching for a magnifying glass to see if he can identify anyone.

My neice and sister in law went but got fed up waiting and left at 3.40pm
My brother heard later that it turned up at 4.20pm on a tractor
He was told they had a problem with the horses
Don't know if this true

Yep I went, there was a problem with the horses and it was very late getting into Netherton. Got fed up of waiting so took a walk to meet it!!!!!!!
Got to Cinder Bank island before we met up with it, but it was worth the walk, and I think we had a better view that the people waiting in Netherton High St would have had.
Lovely sight with all those horses, unfortunately the anchor was being pulled by a tractor by this time, but nevertheless I'm glad I went.

What a total...... I can't think of the correct words to put in writing without sounding really rude.
I decided to take a walk into Dudley 'cos it was a) a lovely morning day and b) was under the impression that most of the roads around Castlegate Island were going to be closed. I then walked down to the Black Country Living Museum thinking that it would be ideal that the anchor would depart from there - WRONG. I was told by the car park attendant at the BCLM that it was going from Flood Street car park at 12.00.
Another walk back to the bypass at Castlegate island and there were loads of people waiting. Got myself positioned on the walk bridge over the bypass, camera in pocket. Waited, waited, waited... then we were told by a Council worker that there was a problem getting the anchor and horses around the island, they had to unhitch the horses apparently:!: Can you believe that nobody had thought if it was plausible to get the anchor and horses around an island for goodness sake. Waited, waited, waited... then got told by the same Council worker that there was an ambulance outside the Zoo, but he didn't know what the problem was.
At 1.30 I decided enough was enough, thinking that the procession had got stuck going around Castlegate island - WRONG. No anchor, no horses, just a very long queue of cars going right back on the A4123 towards Birmingham, with the end of the queue finishing at Trafalgar Road, Tividale.
Phew, got that off me chest. I haven't felt that disappointed in such a long time.
We popped into Ma Pardoe's this lunch time and the barman said they only saw the anchor for about 20 minutes brought into Netherton by a lorry, because the horses were finding it very difficult with walking on the tarmac roads, rather than the cobbled stones as the original horses had done.
