Found an old hymn book belonging to Edward Blakeway (1866) where a previous owner : PHAROAH WHITTALL is written at Meadow Street, Old Hill. Can't find a link to the Blakeway family or a definitive Pharoah Whittall. Anyone got any info on this young / old man at the address?? Mention in back of book of readings and sermon from 17th Oct 1915 but don't know who wrote that - suspect Edward as writing stronger and similar.
Any link found would be appreciated!

seems the 10 meadow street pharoah is the right one as that is the address in the hymn book. is the mum Mary ann the same on as in the 1881 census - also mother to 3 steward kids- Rebecca (1865) John (1867) Joseph (1870) - there is a Mary Ann Steward / rhodes marrying a William Whittall in 1872, but no info on who she was before she became a Steward. There is a 64 year old lodger called John Hope there in 1881- can't find a Mary Hope or a Mary Rhodes marrying into Steward family or any more on the kids paternal parentage.
Anyone got any other links??
Thanks

Still can't find a link of any sort between Pharoah Whittall and Edward Blakeway - even in 1911 hymn books and bibles were only passed between family members - Edward Blakeway definitely had the hymn book after Pharoah and it passed on via his son William (my Grandad). No one in the family recognises the name and I can find no evidence of a familial link. One of Edward's daughters married an Edward Perry in 1912???? in 1911 the Blakeways were in Clifton Street not a million miles away from Meadow Rd or Wrights Lane. By 1915 they were in Powke Lane Blackheath.
Have lots of info about the Blakeways - the ones from 1911 Clifton Street - and their spouses but can't access the BCC to add only to view!!

They may have been close friends, maybe both Trustee's of their Local Chapel? Do you know where they worshipped? I would try and find some literature on their local Chapel. HTH from Linell.
