Hi all,

Just starting out. I have dates and names for my grand parents on my Father's side - Howard Ponsford and Annie Rowena Davies. I know Howard had one brother Horace and two sisters.

I dont know anything about Howards parents or his sisters, I guess my next step is to get his birth certificate so I can go after his parents and then his sisters.

I would get Howard and Annie Rowena's marriage certificate first which will give you both their father's names unless you have dates of birth etc and are sure you have the correct Howard Ponsford.

As you are just starting if you want help rather than someone else to find info for you start a thread in the Beginner's section -- you will get support as to what to do next there

Thanks for all the helpful replies already!

I found from free BMD that Howard was born in 1901 and his brother Horace I think was born in 1899. They both appear to marry in Mar 1927 so maybe it was a joint wedding. Howard married my grand mother Annie Rowena Davies who I can only remember as a very sweet old welsh lady who was very forgetful. She died in 1984.

I've also found out that Howard and Horace had two sisters who continued to live in their parent's home , not sure where that was presumably Cardiff area.
Howard worked on the railways, not sure what Horace did but I think from free BMD that his wife's maiden name was Scourfield.

Thanks Maths girl, I think that makes sense, I will probably look to get one of the marriage certificates. I am suddenly finding all of this facinating as my Dad (no longer with us) never talked about his family. I know lots about my Mums side and her brother is quite actively researching that part himself.

Jimmy where is this from? 1901 census?

Can't quite understand this then, Howar dis in Cardiff aged 1, that looks good. I don't know his parents names but presumably it would be Ponsford, yet I doubt they would be living in Somerset.

Ah sorry Jimmy. Not sure if I was reading this correct. All these people lived at 17 Richard Street in Cardiff? SO Gertrude and Emily are Howard & Horaces sisters? PLys There are my great grant parents! Cheers Jimmy that is unbelievably useful!

The place after the age is where they were born.
