Would there have been a penalty for not registering a birth? It was around 1892. I have 2 children with Grandmother on the 1901 census and despite searching for births I can find nothing on either of them to discover who their parents were

I think there was but others on here will know better

post what you need to find and someone might be able to find what you are after

I've tried on a couple of forums and everyone draws a blank, but if you are up for a challenge?

I'm looking for a birth record for Susannah and Orham. This family originated in Walsall staffs but for some reason ended up in Yorkshire in 1901.

** The elder Orham on the census was actually registered as Oram on his birth cert.

Looks like Hannah was White before she became a Pemberton.

I have all the info on Hannah she was a bit of a scarlet woman,

the 1881 she was actually a Pemberton but must have a domestic on the day of the census as she changed the children back to White's and Thomas as a lodger.

I've tried looking for births under White for them but nothing that really stands out. I don't have access to the 1911 census but other people have searched for me and nothing found for them.

That's the trouble Peterd I don't know who their parents were, I thought If I could get their birth certs it would tell me which one of the family they belong to
