Im investigating the Gowler family of Chatteris.
On the roll of honour it says:
GOWLER Alfred 40555 Pte, 12th Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action 25-3-18. Lived West Street. Arras Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.
Checking this at findagrave, I find a correlating record:
Birth: unknown
Death: Mar. 25, 1918
Inscription:
Suffolk Regiment
Note: 40555
Is anyone able to find any more information?
I have a Alfred Gowler b 1888 on my tree which may fit, but his last known address in 1901 was Holwood(?) according to the census
Thanks
Andrew
