Can anyone help me with this connection:

It started here whilst investigating the gowlers - 1851 census

19 Robert Gowler Head 29 abt 1822 Male Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, England
19 Elizabeth Gowler Wife 31 abt 1820 Female Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, England
19 Jane Gowler Daughter 6 abt 1845 Female Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, England
19 Robert Gowler Son 4 abt 1847 Male Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, England
19 Elizabeth Gowler Daughter 1 abt 1850 Female Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, England
19 Sarah Walker Cousin 20 abt 1831 Female Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, England

Now who is this Sarah walker!

Elizabeth's Maiden name was Lambe, and at Sarah walkers parents wedding, Lambes were witnesses:

22 WALKER John (x) bac
CHARITY Jane (x) sp botp
wits: John LAMBE
John NEWITT
Sarah LAMBE (x)

But just cant find the connection!

It would work if Sarah Lambe's maiden name was Charity and hence sister to Jane then their daughters would be cousins --

The fact that Elizabeth's first daughter is Sarah suggests a possible close link too.

Need marriage for John Lambe and Sarah Charity before the John Walker and Jane Charity one so that Sarah used her married name as witness

The entry in my original census says 1831 - and she is 20 in 1851

Thanks anyway though!

Fatman -- don't dismiss this connection too quickly

are you so definite that Sarah Lambe didn't marry George Charity and then he died and she married John Lambe

or depending on dates it could have been aunts and uncles that married -- cousins were a very loose description in those days -- as indeed it is with many people generally not understanding the term second cousin etc.

Would it help if we listed all the people involved with known dates of birth and marriages from facts such as census/ baptisms etc.

The gowler stuff im sure on - Robert Gowler marries Elizabeth Lambe - her Parents are Ann Lambe and John Blinkhorn

Anything else would be a great help!

So Elizabeth Gowler nee Lambe born 1820

Sarah Walker born 1831 daughter of Jane Walker nee Charity
Jane Charity born 1811

1807 Sarah Lambe (born 1790) married George Charity

Dates would suggest that Jane Charity (1811) is daughter of Sarah Lambe
and that Elizabeth is daughter of Sarah's brother making Elizabeth and Sarah cousins?!

But how to prove it without census -- over to those with access to parish records?
