Hi everyone
This is my first post. I'm fairly new to this malarky and still on a pretty steep learning curve. However, i have come unstuck in finding any trace of my great x2 grandfather. The only trace I can find is that he is listed as father of the groom at his son Robert's wedding to Sarah Alfeck graham in 1878 on Aug 3rd at St Nicholas cathedral, Newcastle.

The earliest record of Robert is on Ancestry 1881 census:

Before that the trail is very cold for both Robert and his father Edward Tindall. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have the cert. I don't remember the website I got the info from about the marriage.It was a free one though! Only states that Edward was the father. No other information. Cheers for the quick responses btw.

Fletcher was the name of the brides father.Robert and sarah named their son Fletcher also. Fletcher(in both individuals) mysteriously becomes Alfeck, Affleck and even Aggleck in the subsequent census's. Whats the plural of census lol. I said I was new to this lark.

Yes, Sarah wes the daughter of Fletcher. I found her side of the family quite easy as the father has a fairly uncommon name. Also Sarahs middle name is unusual.

There are these 2 Roberts and 1 Edward on FMP 1861.

Thanks Annie. Any of those could be accurate. In the census's it has Roberts birth date as 1852. The Edward is in the right ball park.

Again, looks promising. Would put Roberts birth date at around 1850 though!

It's a good shout. No mention of Robert. However, he'd be in his late twenties by then and perhaps living with his in-laws in an earlier post.
