I just watched the episode with Bruce Forsyth and what a fascinating story....
His Great Grandad was a brilliant but morally corrupt individual.
I think the end of his life showed that Karma is a reality.

Yes, I did see it. He definitely was morally corrupt, yes, but I do feel sorry that he died alone and spent so long in a paupers grave. I think it was good that Bruce has arranged for a proper memorial though.

I had some misgivings about watching Brucie as I just cannot stand him when he's on Strictly Come Dancing (we record the programme and then fast forward when ye's yakking on) but you know what? I changed my opinion on him after watching just 10 mins of the WDYTYA programme. He seems such a warm hearted, friendly man - if only he'd just throw away the cue cards and stop looking at the autocue when he's presenting Strictly he'd much better.

Just watched it Barb and I agree with you
Brucie baby what a lovely guy!
A real gentleman and at the end it was so sad and he was visably moved.
Very interesting one.

I must say, after watching the show I wonder how many people hope to find something interesting about their family, find some link to wealth etc, and get nothing of the sort back.
All I've found on my tree was that my ancestors were generally poor labourers with huge families in small houses. Nothing that I didn't expect though.

I never expected to find anything but hard working labourers.
It makes them just as interesting to me.
I am trying to find out how my Great Great Grandparents handled losing 17 children out of the the 20 born alive.
That is my history and I find this type of couple inspiring in their ability to still laugh and enjoy life amongst the sadness.

I saw the one on Rupert Everett last night (last night in blighty, so I had to do a bit of grovelling

- but hey we did go all the way to Weymouth to see some old boats!!). Just goes to show, you can't dismiss family rumours, even if you think they're a bit far fetched!
Wish I could see it here in Denmark.

Don't get me wrong, I expected to find what I have, nor does it make me think any less of my family. I've found a similar thing to you, except my GG Grandmother died leaving my GG Grandfather with 6 children all aged below 10. It does make me wonder how he managed to cope. Also, lots of people living in very small houses with each other. It just amazes me how they cope.
Sue: You might be able to find a way, Google is your friend
The episode last night was interesting, and it was nice that he managed to find a relative he didn't know about.
