*Arc tbc* ---Baptisms in Old Swinford

I'm having trouble finding baptisms for the children of Edmund and Mary Jones in Old Swinford between about 1836 and 1852. I have one child who matches the census records, but I can't find any others.
I suppose it's possible that the record I've found isn't for the correct child, and they didn't get any of the kids baptised - but Edmund doesn't seem to be a common name, even though there were loads of Jones' being baptised in Old Swinford at the time.

They are down as living in Old Swinford, Wollescote and The Lye. Are there any other churches I can check - I can't find anything for Wollescote.

Can anybody help with ideas where to look?

Sue

The children are: George 1836, Henry 1837, Edward 1839, Thomas 1842, James 1844, David 1849, all born Old Swinford or Wollescote depending on which census you look at.
I think Edmund is the same one as the one who married Susan Holt (née Corser) on 24 Aug 1862, but I'm not 100% sure of this yet. If it is the same one , then there are 3 more children: Elen 1863, Susan 1866, Sarah 1869.

I have the marriage certificate for David, he married Matilda Woodhall in the Parish Church, Old Swinford on 1 Apr 1877 - I can't find this on IGI either, even though the record seems to include 1877. On this certificate there are George Jones and Susan Jones as witnesses.

Hi Sue, Wollescote was Lye Waste, there were dozens of Non Conformist Chapels around Old Swinford, your Jones's could have been baptised in any one of them. Not many records have survived from these Chapels, there are some for the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, and some for a Baptist Church at Brettell Lane, which is not that far from Lye. Have you tried the Clent Parish Records, a lot of Lye people used St Leonards, have to say there were a couple of Chapels there as well! You would need to go to Dudley Archives to have a look. Not everything is on the IGI, mind you St Mary's Old Swinford is supposed to be all on there up to a certain date at any rate, same as Halesowen. Linell.

Family search,

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/ ... _form=true

If you search by just putting in the parents names, Edmund Jones, and Mary. and 1835 + or - 10 years. and area.

If they are submitted you won't find them in an extracted batch number
and you would need to verify they actually exist as it is a submitted entry
and may be incorrect
