I volunteer at a local FHC. The LDS church is revamping their family search and what is available at the centers. Since dropping their agreement with ancestry - it is now possible to access World Vital Records, Heritage Quest and the Godfrey library from the centers as well as some other sites.
World Vital records has the 1841, 1861, 1871, 1881 and 1891 censuses both transcribed and full images, it also has a large number of pariish registers and the ability to download some complete works. I've been able to download the parish registers of Wem, Moreton Say, Wrockwardine among others.
Heritage quest has the complete US censuses and also the ability to download images of complete books.
If you have access to a FHC, it might be worth your while checking out some of these features.
Also - for those that don't know the trick.
When using familysearch.org - go to advanced search - then International Genealogical Index - by leaving the the persons name blank but putting in the father's surname and given name and the mother's given name - you can get the names of children that appear in the parish records for that couple - or that someone has entered as part of their family. This search can be restricted to your choice of years and location

Is really good for telling you within a county which churches are on the IGI

and

it can do twiddly bits such as view results in a long batch ....
"** This is the way to start viewing results in the middle of a long batch. It also provides a way to overcome the limitation on the IGI web site which restricts you from viewing more than 5000 records from any one query. Since there are 200 entries per page on the IGI website, entering a number greater than 25 in this field will display entries after the 5000th one (since 5000 = 25 x 200). You should be aware, however, that when you use this method the entries displayed will be numbered starting with 1 and not 5001 etc. Also, once you have viewed any page with a number higher than 25 you will not be able to click on the Next or Prev links on that page since they are either disabled or give an error. This is a function of the LDS IGI website itself. You will have to return to THIS page and enter a new number to move on to the next page in that case. "

You can also go thru the a-z by just putting in a page no and no surname which is really helpful if you are unsure of the spelling.
