can anybody help me with this ancestor of mine from blackburn lancashire. alice ormerod was born in 1862 and she married a william henry barton in 1895 , but i cannot find them in any census or death records since, I have found an alice barton who died in 1913 aged abt 50 , which would match but there was an Alice Barton in the 1911 census who is NOT my relation

thanks Jimmy , thats closer than i have ever got , the ages are out as you say , but it wouldnt be the first time info on the census hasnt been 100% accurate. Alice was born in Tockholes (which is about 15miles away from Clayton-le-moors) , William's middle-name began with H , and he was a Cotton Weaver, i know that her elder brother lived in Clayton in that census and moved literally round ther corner from that address about 1913 .

Have you managed to find them again in 1911

I have had a look there are a lot of Bartons living in Barnes St, but I don't have full access to narrow it down.

ten years later and you could have identified the children by their mother's maiden name as it is -- it is by looking at birth certificates! An expensive business but given that they had only been married 10 years you are looking for Barton deaths of children under 10 in the right area -- you might strike lucky and find there are only 3 -- the two you know and the one you want!

Hubert Barton abt 1902 b 1902 Blackburn Lancashire

Unfortunately I cannot find a William also registered in Blackburn -- was hoping to narrow it down that way

i think that is a mistake , i have their wedding certificate , they were married in 1895 i think the 10 years has been ,mis-read it shoulb be 16 years

hubert is correct , but they moved from blackburn to clayto-le-moors nr accrington which i think may come under the haslingden district
