Is it quite possible that 2 families with distinctive names living in the same district and not be related?
My family name I am researching is Toy, and I have managed to track them down to these places:
Stourbridge, Quinton, Ridgacre, Halesowen,
Now I'm not sure if these towns were the same place back in the mid 1800's - but I am finding multiple Toy's in that area that are not directly linked to my researched family.
Basically I am trying to find a father for William Toy b 1796 - but while I was looking I was coming up with Toy's born in 1840 in Stourbridge, which I never had + a William Toy b 1788 who obviously too young to be a father to my William, but he may have been a cousin or an uncle, as it's unlikely that a family will name 2 children by the same name.
If my family name was Jones then clearly I would have a cataclysmic nightmare - but Toy is not a very common name.
