Hi,

I am researching a George Thomas born 1807. It says on 1851 census that he was born in "Auly Green", Staffordshire. I don't think that such a place exists but I did some research and I think that there are places called Adderly Green or Abbey Green in Staffordshire so I think that it is probably meant to be one those place.

George was a Printer living in St Luke Middlesex and Southwark, Surrey in 1841 - 51. He married Maria Mapley at St Martin in the Fields, Westminster in 1830.

I am trying to a find birth record for George but I have no idea where to go next ... as there was no BMD in 1807 and the record doesn't seem to be on IGI

Any advice?

Also - I don't like in the UK so online resources are good for me :)

Hi Rebecca, could you post the details you have for George in 1841 and 1851 so we have something to work from please?

Auly Green could be Adderley Green Stoke On Trent or Audley Newcastle Under Lyme:- http://www.acumenbooks.co.uk/audleynet/ ... /index.htm

Hi Linell,

Yes, that is exactly them in 1841 and 51 census. Sorry, I should have posted the census details myself

I can't find George and Maria 1861. Although Maria is around in 1871 living with her daughter. Maria Bryant (nee Thomas). They are living in Willesden, Middlesex. It states that their oldest child John Bryant was born in Chicago, USA. So, I have wondered if Maria and George were in the US in 1861 which would could account for them not being around 1861.

Benjamin Bryant b Islen Misgie, Sussex abt 1836 Bricklayer
Maria Bryant b Westminster, Middlesex abt 1833
John Bryant b. Illinois, Chicago USA abt 1858
George Bryant b. Chelsea Middlesex abt 1862
Bejamin Bryant b. Fulham Middlesex abt 1864
Alice Bryant b. Willesden, Middlesex abt 1868
Louisa Bryant b Willesden, Middlesex abt 1869
Maria Thomas b. St Clements, Devon?? abt 1807. ( It looks like it's meant to be St Clement Danes and is transcription error).

Source Citation: Class: RG10; Piece: 1329; Folio: 94; Page: 36; GSU roll: 828273.

So George Thomas died sometime between 1851 and 1871 ... I'm not sure when.

Other details - the Marriage is on Pallot's Marriage Index so it doesn't give any other info other than names and dates.

Thanks for posting the other census details Linell :)
