Question- what would they think?

I was just doing a look up and wondered what our ancestors would think about all our delving into their affairs?
I like to see it as keeping their memory alive and making them not just names but real people.
It upsets me when I read about the woman who threw herself and her baby in the canal and that was their lives gone.
So many died so young.
I think that our ancestors were a hardened bunch.
They laid people out, cleaned them up wiped off the death sweat and the death lice, bore countless kids and worked all the hours god sent for a pittance.
But I think it is important to know our roots, to know who our ancestors were to honour them and their existence no matter how fleeting it was. I hope they forgive the intrusion.

I think most would be rather pleased that we're interested in them - even my villains!

GG you back! missed ya!
I used to do that to the doctor who music!
I digress

See I think they were a proud lot and kept themselves to themselves. And would be horrified.
But I think deep down they would have been dead proud we were taking the time and effort to remember them.
Sad though some of the things you find out along the way.

Having been looking at several of mine from the Ancestry War records - did I really want to know that several got the clap in France or bunions on their feet .....

.........what has amazed me is how small they seem - not very tall fellows with small chest expansion........and how many came back with gas effects, breathing problems and deafness................. still they came back.... and along with the rest the world over...........we think of them........... its poppy day soon!

Ah bless!! How sweet!!
Sorry mustn't digress!! Excuses ganggang goolie(nice to see you back)
An uncle of mine tends to think we shouldn't delve into the past and you do find things that can make you sad but
his brother thinks it's great and loves to talk about it.
So the moral of the story is....
dunno

Ask and you shall be answered!

I agree nemo and if it wasn't for the bravery and seflessness of our ancestors we might be looking out on a totally different world.
