Could anyone look at the actual image please?

I was just wondering about,
Alfred, a son, 16, Tube Tester, Ladywood Birmingham

Could that be adopted son?
Jo :)

1911 Definitely looks like A Son although the A looks as though it has been added by another handwriting as it doesn't match the A for Alfred I'm wondering whether the enumerator questioned her and changed it as the ink for the A looks more like the ink in his signature. Also other changes made eg no of children etc crossed out.

I can't account on the other census for 9 children --indeed Alfred seems to spring out of nowhere. -- born elsewhere and not appearing in 1901

Did she "adopt" a nephew?

1901 2, 4, Court, Sherborne Street, Birmingham (sub district LADYWOOD)
ROSE, Alfred Head Married M 36 1865 Brass Caster Birmingham Warwickshire
ROSE, Anna M Wife Married F 35 1866 Birmingham Warwickshire
ROSE, Harry Son M 13 1888 Birmingham Warwickshire
ROSE, Lilly Daughter F 8 1893 Birmingham Warwickshire
ROSE, Alfred Son M 6 1895 Birmingham Warwickshire

The rest of this family seems to have gone awol in 1911 --emigrated??
