I really fancy taking this up again
I was never much good at it but my mum is fab at it.
Wolvie wouldn't like the click of the needles....
I don't let him eat crisps when I am watching T.V so I suppose it is fair.
Any of you lot big Knitters
apart from Rob who we all know is just a big nit!
bless!

Used to do loads of knitting when my girls were small. Did a bit when the grandchildren were small too, but last time I went looking at wool, I decided the cost was extortionate and it was cheaper to buy jumpers ready made!

My dad was into knitting when we lived in Smethwick.
Not with knitting needles but one of those loom type machines.
A cousin won the knitting machine in some competition but didn't want it as it reminded her parents of their "slavery" in the mills in Yorkshire.
So Dad payed a fiver for it and kept us kids in jumpers and socks and cardigans for years before we emmigrated to Australia.
He didn't bring it with us because we were supposed to be living in tropical Queensland.
After the first winter in Victoria he was cursing he left it behind.
My mum was more into crochet than knitting.
I haven't seen anybody crochet or knit in years!
Speaking of ancient knitting patterns....have a look at these

Those are great Mark!
and the ties!!
I used to work in a knitting shop when I was about 15 £2 a day for a Saturday I got
slave labour!!
I didn't realise you had to have the correct wool for the pattern
and gave them anything that looked ok
got in trouble for that

My mother and aunt were fantastic knitters, and eventually I followed in their footsteps, starting with dolls clothes and 'working my way up'. In fact we all knitted to the same tension, and if a garment was needed in a hurry, we would knit it between us!
I have got loads of wool which I bought from a shop which was closing down and keep meaning to dust off my needles and start again. Of course when the grandchildren are grown there isn't the incentive!
But I was most interested to find that Mark isn't a true born Aussie (as I thought) - he's a Smethwickian like me !!

I used to love knitting but not done any for years, if you look in a wool shop the yarn and patterns are very expensive so not sure if it is worth while these day's.
