My grandmother was the sister of Harry Sidney Pitt. She was Mary Gertrude Pitt (1872-1965). She married Harold John Haden,(1876-1935)who was the colliery master's Clerk and my grandfather

I amended that May to Mary Gertrude
and deleted the earlier one as couldnt see a birth regs

but it is weird how she is on the 1871 census

anyone any ideas?

Sounds like two Mary Gertrude's -- one born 1867 and living until after 1871 census and then dying and another daughter born 1876 and named after her

or

mistranscribe somewhere along the line

So what do we think on this one?
looks to me like a Mary Pitt b 1867 and died as Gertrude PItt in 1872
and then another one born later
perhaps she was a Mary Gertrude Pitt
I think we should enter her as that b 1867 d 1872

what do we think?
