I thought this might be an interesting one to have as a thread....
Ask for a tip, solution to a household chore you have
or give us a good tip
and let's keep it sensible
no tips like
"never eat yellow snow"
So I will start the ball rolling if I may
Q....I would like to know
How do I get marks of the wallpaper which has emulsion on
and generally clean the paintwork and walls without repainting

Is your " help" new?
The best way is instead of buying expensive wood cleaners, you can use plain vinegar and oil to clean woodwork. Using oil and vinegar is simple, environmentally friendly, and can save you a lot of money!
You need a dry rag and a wet(damp not wringing) rag.
Vinegar
Olive Oil
A bucket
Water.
Wipe the paintwork with the damp rag and then using circular motions wipe the paintwork with the dry rag.
Remove emulsion paint from wallpaper? Difficult.
Best to paint over the wall paper or remove it and repaper it!!
Now get cracking!!

Emm dont think I am using vinegar it would make the place smell
even worse that before!!
and I dont want to remove emulsion paint
I want to clean the walls , which are papered and painted with emulsion
and if I use water and cleaning fluid the paint/emulsion comes off!

If its matt emulsion paint will come off,
if you've used silk emulsion a slightly warm damp cloth
should remove stains.
loverly job at easter!!

Yes Rob my mam was great believer in cleaning with vinegar and water used it on windows, polished wood furniture even the antique grandfathers clock, not sure if she added olive oil , also used milk on the ivory piano keys to keep them white.
