I'm Bryan based in British Columbia, Canada and interested in: SLIM mainly Black Country C!7 to date; PARSONS in C16 to early C19 in the Black Country and then their migration to B'ham. (at least for my branches of the families). Other families include: BATEMAN mainly jewellers who flitted between Smethwick and Birmingham's Jewellers' Quarter and provided the marriage link to the PARSONS. Linking to these families are TROMAN (and vars TRUMAN, etc).

Now with some 230 direct ancestors identified I am focusing on confirming the data from: parish registers; civil lists; censuses; some references to trade directories; regular trips back to the BC to spend some weeks in libraries and streets looking for old addresses; and supplemented by BMD certs where all else fails.

I grew up on the fringes of the Black Country but then my career took me to live in various other countries.

Hi Nailmaker

You nailed it! and posted ok
You already know about the Black Country Connections site.
We also have a dedicated Black Country Section just scroll down the main board so
any queries from that area do post in there.

For any other areas we have the General discussion.
You will find a few of us that you know on here from Rootsweb too
