I used to click on Active Topics to see what the newest posts were, but now it just comes up empty. Why's that?

I have noticed that as well.

It's on the home page, at the top in very small print

Its working now.

The software the forum runs had to be updated yesterday with a patch to fix a couple of bugs. The update process changed the default settings for the active topics feature. I've now switched it back to its previous setting so everyone should find it's OK again now
