I like using tribal connections and was thinking of starting my own tree there. I know some of you have your own tree, apart from bcc. Would I be able to export what I have already on bcc? I have a lot of Scottsh rellies that have no connection to the Black Country so it seems inappropriate to add them to it. Any advice/suggestions? Thanks Kay

no you would have to re-enter if you set up your own triabal page as there no way you can segment off the section you entered.

That's a pity. Probably not worth the bother of re-entering them. I could upload a gedcom but would still need a lot of reformatting

Yes you would have to renter them Kay
or upload your own gedcom onto an tribal pages site
if you have yours on ancestry or similar
or if you have it in family tree maker you can segment off that which you want save it and then upload that bit
don't ask me how cos dont know how

If you have your own gedcom I would say its well worth while. I love Tribal pages, although sometimes it does have a few blips lately
But would be so easy uploading your own gedcom.
Think this may be better in the general section.
I'll give a little time and move it across

I have moved it Jo
Kay you should really back up your info on something don't regard BCC as the place to store your
family tree as we say on the homepage.
Keep a back up copy somewhere

Thanks for comments.
I have all my data offline on Mac Family tree. Also have separate trees for my family and husband's family on Genes Reunited - a mistake to have them separate as have to pay twice!! You live and learn!

Kay, do upload your gedcom to your own Tribal Pages. It's easy and Tribal will put the info into its own format. You might find that you have to reenter
notes and any photos, but you will have the framework to build around.

I have managed it without too much bother! And the bother was from my gedcom, created from merged data with lots of duplicates, not tribal pages. Thanks for your help and encouragement.
I do like the interface of tribal pages.
