Also 1891 census for Walter James Gubby c31 bChelsea And wife Margaret c29, prob at Epsom.
I've also tried to find the marriage of Frederick Robert Whiting to Mabel Wellstead(unsure of spelling) about 1915-21 with no luck and couldn't find a birth for him either, prob in Epsom Surrey area.

Thanks so much folks. Think the 1891 is correct and their son is Percy who was 14 in 1901. Didn't know Walter was bDevon. Also think 1871 is correct too as father George was a greengrocer. So glad you found Frederick Whiting's marriage, is he on the 1901 census.
Just need George and Hannah in 1861, have got them in 51/61, ta.

Could anyone with access to 1901 please look at the households of Frederick Whiting. There are 2 listed in Surrey aged 7and 14.
By the way the Walter Gubby in the 1891 census was a groom/jockey and the address for George was George St. Thanks friends.

Hi
FreeBMD showsw the birth of a Frederick Robert Whiting in 1887 registered at Horsham Sussex [volume 2b page 313].
In 1901 a Fred Whiting born 1887 in Ifield, Sussex [which is in the Horsham district] is living at Horse Hill, Horley in Surrey.
Could this be your Frederick?

Thanks Di and Doug. Think Fred Robert was b1897. I've found out that he died aged 68/9 about 1966(only hearsay so could be 1887). So could you look for the one b1887 and his family in 1901 please. All this could have been done so much easier but his son wouldn't divulge much info, said let sleeping dogs lie (not addicted to family history then!!).

The father of the Fred living at Horse hill in 1901 is Nur Whiting, a greenkeeper, born about 1857 in Ifield Sussex. The other family members are:
Emily born abt. 1856 in Hythe, Kent;
Dollie born abt. 1888 in Ifield Sussex.
FreeBMD have a Near Whiting born 1857 the birth registered at Horsham [Volume 2b page 246].
There is a marriage in 1879 for a Ner Whiting to an Emily Elizabeth Austen on FreeBMD again registered at Horsham [Volume 2b page 493].
There is also a death recorded in 1940 for a Nur Whiting in the Surrey Mid Eastern district [volume 2a page 245].
You reckon this could be yours?
Doug
