I want to place an order for a few Parish records from BMSGH, but I donot understand what to do? The records I require are in 'FICHE' Once ordered do I need to take them somewhere with a Fiche reader? or does it mean it has been transcribed from fiche to data cd or book etc? Sorry totally confused on this! Been searching to find out more but no joy. I do recall reading somewhere that you can order fiche and they will be sent to nearest library etc for reading Is this the same thing?
Paul.

Hi Paul,
I think you have to take them where they have a Fiche reader, local library etc.

Yes they will be on fiches that you need a fiche reader for
library
or I think wmbsgh may loan one you would need to enquire on that as not sure
family history centres too should have one

Hi Paul, it is micro fiche you are buying, you need to find your nearest Library or Record Office to view them, or buy a second hand fiche reader. You seem to be making hard work for yourself, which fiche are you thinking of buying, are you sure they have not been transcribed by anyone else, have you googled for Parish Registers on CD? I have a few CD's which I bought from various places, you just need to look further than BMSGH. HTH from Linell.

Thanks all.
The fiche reader makes it a bit of hassle! At the moment I would like Worcester, Cradley, Park Lane Presbyterian. BMSGH have it on fiche: Bapts 1735-1837 inc a few burials. It is the date range for baptisms I would like. The thing that attracted me was the price. I was thinking of ordering loads of records of different parishes at the prices they are. But if the same is available on cd that would be great as I can view at leisure.
P.S NothernLass can you drop me a mail regards membership of BCC. I seemed to have mislayed your e-mail. If ok we can chat next Thursday 28.1.2010 as I am due time off.

Searched for Cradley (Worcestershire) parish records but nothing at all. It looks as though the only thing available at the moment are the fiche.
Been keeping an eye on E-bay for a fiche-reader. Will give it a few weeks to see if one comes up close to home and at a good price!
For now I will order fiches and try to find the time to get to the Library in nearest town. Will have to ring them next week to find out procedure.
