WW1 Soldier on local War Memorial, not on CWGC

Whilst researching my g.grandfather's brother William Clenaghan, 5286 Irish Guards, b. 1881, I stumbled upon a website honouring the men who had fallen and who were commemorated on War Memorials in the the Dunbartonshire area, which included details of a soldier, "William Clenaghan, Dorsets", who died in WW1, and is named on the War Memorial in Twechar, yet he is not named on the CWGC site. I've visited the Memorial in Twechar for myself, and he is named there. I have been unable to find this site again, and my mail to the webmaster was never answered.
My William Clenaghan is honoured on Port Glasgow's Memorial, where the family had moved from Old Monkland c. 1900. As Twechar is only about 7 miles from Coatbridge, I thought maybe William (b. 1881), had married and moved there, but further research has led me to another William Clenaghan, b. 1891, in Kirkintilloch, son of William & Margaret, ms Cunningham, who is most likely the soldier named at Twechar.
The only place that I've found mention of more than one William Clenaghan is in the War Medal Index, but none in the Dorsets.
There is also a Wm, who is a likely candidate to be my relative, but although it is the same service number, the "Corps" is identified as Grenadier Guards, rather than Irish Guards, can anyone tell me why that would happen?
I am hoping that someone has access to these records and can give me a bit more information, it is such a shame, that after making the ultimate sacrifice, this man has somehow been missed from the honour rolls, and I would welcome any advice on how to proceed with solving the mystery, and if successful, what next?
