Hi

Browsing through the Black Country Connections tree I came upon Samuel Dimmock [born 1814] & his family and would like to offer a couple of suggestions in regard to him from information I've gathered from various sources including genes reunited.

Samuel appears to have been married twice - firstly to a Sarah Malpass at Halesowen [25/12/1829] and then to Elizabeth Hughes at Dudley in 1883. Elizabeth was born circa 1810 in Kingswinford Staffordshire and died 1889 in Dudley.

Samuel, the son of Joseph [born 1765 in Dudley] & Mary nee Stephens [born 1777], had at least 7 children - the one not listed on Black Country Connections is Sarah born 1834 at Brierley Hill Staffordshire.

Samuel died in 1878 - registered at Dudley.

Hope this helps someone.

Doug

Hi

The 1883 date was a typo it should have been 1833.

Samuel's christening according to the IGI is 9/2/1812 which would have made him at least 17 when he married Sarah - also the witnesses at this wedding were James & Prudence Weaver - this may be Samuel's sister if the user submitted stuff to the IGI is to be believed.

The information I got was from corresponding with others researching the Dimmocks - I didn't ask for or offer copies of certificates unless they were my direct ancestors.

The only Samuel in Dudley born about 1813 on the 1851 Census is this one:-

Mushroom Netherton
Samuel Dimmock HD M 37 Coal Miner born Dudley
Elizabeth Wife 41 Kingswinford
Benjamin Son 13 Dudley
Joseph Son 11 Dudley
Samuel Son 9 Dudley
William Son 7 Dudley
Johannah DA 5 Dudley
Betsey DA 3 Dudley

This line fits with Doug's information regarding second wife Elizabeth Hughes born Kingswinford.

Hi NL, yes I am sure what we have on BCC is correct and the same family that Doug was looking for. Will sort out the Marriage Look Ups and then add any new info to BCC.

That marriage must be correct as Samuel's sister Prudence is a Witness, need to find the one for Elizabeth Hughes in 1833. Later from Linell.

Great!
can you add the parents of Samuel and all those kids they had (Joseph and Mary)
I have altered his dob to 1812
but those bapts could do with being entered.
I think we could add that marriage too

is there a marriage in 1833? :?
