Could be Rolinson from original

Nephew would suggest that Ruth was
either Josiah's (much younger) sister married (very young) to a "Rollason"
or Susannah was a Rollason before marriage and Ruth was her sister/sister-in-law

Having said that Ruth was young enough to be the Josiah and Susannah's niece herself and that would make Josiah astually their Great nephew which could easily have been recorded in those days as nephew.

I haven't found Ruth or Frederick in later censuses yet - she might have (re)married and then changed both her name and Fred's

To return to the original question there is no obvious link yet between John and Josiah as far as I can see.
