Elizabeth Bradley 53 mother born Halesowen
Thomas Bradley 60 father labourer born Bewdley
Solomon Bate 7 son
1871 Tibbetts Gardens Rowley RegisElizabeth Bradley 66 widower
Emma Bradley 41 daugh
Solomon Bradley 17 grandson Chainmaker
Despite the name changes these seem to me the correct people for Solomon Bate born 1847 Cradley Heath.
However before entering on BCC need to be certain!!
Who was was Emma Bradley nee Bate married to?
Where did Thomas Bradley born in Bewdley suddenly appear from 1861 census?

Hi Rob
There is a Thomas at Four Ways in 1851
Thomas Bradley lodger mar 53 labourer Worces Bewdley Forest
lodging with aston family who are beer sellers (handy) and there is a Benjamin Nock aged 55 lodging too.
PS I think in 1861 Thomas Bradley is down as father in law, whereas Elizabeth is simply mother. Not sure if that makes any difference.(Crossed with Di's post)

I think Elizabeth was originally married to a 'Bate' who was Emma's father, then married Thomas Bradley. At first (1851 & 1861), Emma went by the name of 'Bate' and had an illegitimate child, Solomon, under that name, then (1871) both Emma and Solomon went by the surname of Emma's stepfather, Thomas Bradley.
On the image of the 1861 census, Thomas is actually down as Emma's Father-in-law.

Emma Bate 21 daugh Nail Maker b. Rowley Regis, Staffs.
Thomas Hasberry 53 lodger boiler maker born Hawarden,Flintshire
Elizabeth is said to be married at this time, so Thomas Bradley may be elsewhere.
1861 Tibbetts Gardens Rowley Regis
Emma Bate 28 head nailor born Rowley Regis
Elizabeth Bradley 53 mother born Halesowen
Thomas Bradley 60 Father-in-law labourer born Bewdley
Solomon Bate 7 son b. Staffs., Rowley

Elizabeth Bradley 66 widower b. Worcs., Halesowen
Emma Bradley 41 daugh b. Staffs., Rowley Regis
Solomon Bradley 17 grandson Chainmaker b. Staffs., Rowley Regis

IGI Extracted entry:
THOMAS BRADLEY
Spouse: ELIZABETH BATE
Marriage: 09 SEP 1833 Saint Martin, Birmingham, Warwick, England
Interesting ... this marriage is around the same time that Emma was born.

Despite my misgivings i've put this on BCC.
I have not added Thomas Bradley because it's not yet certain if he's the father of Emma Bate (Bradley)!!
Where does the name of Bate come into this?
Was Emma born Bate or Bradley?
Was Elizabeth Bradley married to someone called Bate?
