I have been having a good dig about and have contacted Dudley, Sandwell and Staffordshire Registry Offices in connection with my Great grandfather's birth certificate and they have come up with NOTHING!! I really don't know where to turn next! The only information I have on him is that :

Name : George Henry Goodwin
Born: 1882
Died: 29/04/1935
Buried: Rowley Regis Strict Bapist Chapel, Bell End

The only piece of information I have been able to get hold of is

George Goodwin
Age: 9 ... Born in: 1882
Relation to the head of household: Son
Profession: Scholar ... Birth County: Staffordshire
Address: ... Area:
County: Staffordshire

And this is off a census that I found on the net, maybe him or maybe not!! Is there anywhere else I could try. I've really got the bit between my teeth now and have to find him

He was drafted into the Army.

Lets see what I can find....

He was living at 14 Moorland View in Bradley when he enlisted on the 26th Jan 1915.

He was married at the time and enlisted at Stoke On Trent.

Shaz who did he marry?
have you looked at that cert and got the fathers name?

He gives his birth parish as Bradeley and his occupation as Ironworker.

He is a shorty at 5 foot 4 1/2 inches.

He originally joined the North Staffordshire Regiment with regimenta number 16731 but was transferred to the South Staffs with regimental number 47508.

He fought at Gallipoli!

His wife is called Florence May Richardson Plembley? Marriage looks like 11/12/04 at Christ Church Tunstall.

His children are listed as Amelia born 13/12/1904 in Smallthorne.

Charles born 07/01/1911 in Smallthorne

Lily May born 12/05/1913.

Florence Maud 06/04/1915

He was 32 years and 1 month when drafted onthe 25/01/1915.....so he was born in December 1882.

This could be looked up (if you go to Stoke on trent archives...presume there)
or sent for

if you have the name of the father from the marriage cert or census then you can say you only want the cert for birth if
father is such and such

His father is Samuel and his mother Amelia.

He can be found in the 1891 census at 21 Union Street, Bradley..


But you already knew that...duh!

which area is Bradley Mark?
what does it say on that census which part of Staffs
