Hi all am looking for this family:-
Joseph Grove born about 1819, he says RR but could be Cradley Worcs, Father Samuel.
I have Joseph in 1851 and 1861 Overend Cradley.
He Married twice 1)Selva Mansell 29.12.1844 Cradley and 2) Esther Jones 5.4.1847 Old Swinford.
Selva died 1845, she had one daughter Ellen Sylvia Grove 1844 Cradley. Ellen is with her Father in 1851 and 1861.
I am really looking for Joseph in 1841 and would love to know what happened to Ellen after 1861.
I have the relevant later details for Joseph and Esther, not really looking for anything on them, just Joseph 1841 and anything on Ellen after 1861.
Many thanks from Linell.

this is the only marriage within the local area i can find for a samuel 1800 -1820

there are others brum, tettenhall, etc
pre 1800
SAMUEL GROVE
Spouse: MARY FIELD
Marriage: 17 SEP 1793 Halesowen, Worcester
SAMUEL GROVE

SAMUEL GROVE
Spouse: MARY PRICE

these might help to narrow down who poss joseph parents if we can find these on 1841 census to see where there at and who with them
there is a poss joseph not at home but lodging ?

Thanks for looking Pete, any of those Samuel Marriages could be the one? Yes indeed Joseph could be 'lodging' in 1841. The Witnesses for the two Marriages were on both accounts his wives relations, Selva's sister Sarah and her husband, and the Marriage to Esther, that was Esther's sister and a George Jones, who may have been her father.
Joseph does seem to be without any family, none has turned up yet?
I'll have another search of the 1841 Census.
Cheers from Linell.

Think the name Ellen is significant. Joseph's Daughter Ellen Sylvia, the Sylvia is after her Mother, the Ellen could be Joseph's mother?

Thanks again San, you should get on here more often

That 1841 find is very interesting, Mary would have been 45 when Joseph was born, not impossible. Shame Joseph is not to be found in 1841. Don't think I will get any further with this, unless I purchase Samuel and Mary's death certs and see if Joseph is down as 'present at death.'
Will ask NL to archive this for now, until I can find some more information
