Do you smoke, have you tried to stop?
I used to smoke around 20 a day, I cut down to about 10. We had a few family problems and illness and I then started to smoke more. Didnt smoke in the house, as such, in the conservatory
We've just had a good clean out there and decided not to smoke in there now too, so its outside
I dont like the smell of it or the dirty ash trays, but...
I like it!
I do need to stop but a lot of the things to help stop are no good for me.
Have you had any help, or is it just will power?
Jo

I've got no will power but i stopped.19 years ago this month,in fact it might be today!!! I'll have to ask my mate Marty about that cos he know's these sort of things!!
Anyway Jo it's easy to say just stop but thats the only way.Cutting down doesn't help.
I used to love smoking but it kills you Jo.
I find it so unattractive in a woman as well and men for that matter!!
Jo?? Stop!!!

Lin.....Atitudes have changed regarding smoking, but you go back 60yrs during the war people did not even think about smoking being anti-social when in the armed forces the cigarette was the life blood for a lot of people, and in civvy life Ambulance men always had a packet at hand for stress on patients, smoking was one escape from the day to day living for men and women and was not regarded as anti- social.
We have been doctrinated to believe that smoking is responsible for a lot of illnesses, but Genes are also a major factor and other forms of modern day polution.

Hi Mike, yes I realise that it was once acceptable, but my Mom had Lung Cancer and she never smoked and lead a very healthy lifestyle, no one else in the family ever had it as far as I know, so it wasn't Genes in her case. The Doctor said it was secondary from her Ovarian Cancer, just seemed very unfair for someone who never smoked to contract it. You should give up too

I shall come over to Walsall and put your fags in the bin

Best Wishes from Lin.

Hi, Lin I fully appreciate what you are saying as you say smoking had nothing to do with your Mom's illness, smoking has been the scapegoat for illnesses in the last say 40yrs and yet people still develop Lung Cancer who have never smoked ! I have been smoking for 45 yrs or more, my mother smoked for for 75 yrs. she died age 89 from Diverticulitis...not smoke related.. as I said in my post about the armed forces, there would have been a lot of people die of Lung cancer and heart trouble if smoking was the cause because in those days I bet more people smoked than those that didn't. Doctors already associate certain cancers that are Genetic.

Rockyfowler.........Advertising does'nt make the slightest different.....If you want a smoke !...same as drinking. In the old days women and men smoked clay pipes......my Grandfather died from a lip cancer from the clay pipe......nothing to do with the smoke.
