Continuing this topic...
http://www.genealogyforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=2595Isaac Ford was born 25th May 1852 in Oldbury.
His mother was Ann Sewell.
His father was Edward Ford.
They were married in the last quarter, 1851 in West Brom. (Probably Oldbury....)
That makes the parentage of Isaac's olde brother, William, in question.
I had him as the William Ford born in West Brom in last quarter 1848 but he could just as easily be William Jewel born 1st quarter 1849.
Let me see if I can find Ann with son William in 1851....

In 1851 we have Edward Ford, Ann Sewell, William Sewell and Mary Ann Sewell as lodgers in Meeting Road, West Brom.
So...was Ann born a Sewell?
With two children called Sewell...probably not.
Her year of birth varies between 1820 and 1825 in census and death indexes.
She always claims Pedmore, Worcestershire as her place of birth.
Therr is an Ann Sewell christened 20 MAR 1825 at Saint Swithin, Worcester, Worcester, England.
Her parents listed as John and Sarah,
Saint Swithin's church is about 20 miles from Pedmore so unlikely.
Anybody want to have a go at William's parentage and Ann's pedigree.

Do you have the marriage cert saying if she was spinster?

!851 says she is un married. 1861 she is still next to a Sheldon.
Wonder if theres a connection there?
That birth you have may be it, transcribed wrong.

Try adding this to the Sandwell look ups
Marriage 1851, FORD Edward SEWELL Ann Oldbury, Christ Church Sandwell Register Office 12/1/281
I cant see a Mary Ann Sewell birth but a couple of Mary Ann Ford.
May be they just had children before marriage?
That birth cert for Jewell would clinch it though.

There is a Mary Ann Sewell birth last quarter 1850 which fits in with the 4 months of age on the 1851 census.

Just adding the connection.
Issac's wife is a Hannah Taylor born in West Brom in third quarter 1859.
Although there are hundreds of Taylors in the tree, none match.
I got sick of the Fords and haven't traced her backwards yet so might find a connection there as well.

Found Edwards family.
He was born abt 1821.
In a couple of hours I have added another 100 Fords and spouses to my tree.
All from the one clue about Edward's father....

Okay, I will double check some things then add one more genrration to both Edward's and Ann's line.
That might give us some connects into ether parts of the tree.

Nope. I am still unsure as to Edwards (and therefore Isaac's) family.
I thought Edward may have been the son of William Ford and Hannah Simms born about 1822 in Knutton, Staffordshire.
That Edward ends up marrying a Lydia and can be traced easily through the census.
I am certain Edward must the the one living with Ann Sewell and the Skeldon family (Ann Skeldon was a witness to the wedding) in the 1851 census.
This would make his birth year about 1813 in the Potteries.
The Potteries are now known as Stoke on Trent. That means Edward's birth could be one of six villages and associated parish (Burslem, Fenton, Hanley, Longton, Stoke and Tunstall).
I can find no suitable matches in IGI and online parish records for Staffordshire are not all that good.
I hate tracing the Ford family!
